We’ll come right out and say it: you no longer have to choose between a hardtail and full suspension bike on race day. Supercaliber gives you just the right amount of travel—60mm in the rear and 100mm in the front—to charge through the rough without losing speed or traction, climb efficiently, and put the hammer down in sprints.
IsoStrut: an innovation in speed
The defining feature of this new category of race bike is Trek’s exclusive IsoStrut shock—structural suspension that pairs 60mm of damped, tunable travel with unique pivotless seatstays that move with the trail to keep you smooth and fast. Standard full suspension bikes have an independent shock and linkage system, but IsoStrut was designed to be a structural part of Supercaliber. This design eliminates the extra hardware and parts normally associated with full suspension bikes, and the extra weight along with them. IsoStrut is encased in a structural stanchion that prevents twisting, flex, deflection, and shock damage. You get the direct power transfer and racy feel of a hardtail, with a short-travel shock that soaks up the trail’s fatiguing bumps. IsoStrut uses a standard shock pump so you can tune the spring rate for your weight, and it has a dial for adjusting rebound and a lockout. It’s serviceable like any other shock, with seals, bushings, and oil that can be replaced by a qualified technician, and it includes volume spacers that increase bottom-out resistance for large or especially aggressive riders.
Lightweight trail performance
Every Supercaliber model has an OCLV Mountain Carbon frame with Straight Shot down tube for extra stiffness, Knock Block to prevent damage from spinning handlebars or fork crowns, and Control Freak Cable Routing to protect your cables and prevent them from snagging on trail debris. Plus every Supercaliber is equipped with lightweight, trail-tough carbon wheels backed by Bontrager’s Carbon Care Wheel Loyalty Program. If you damage your carbon wheels within the first two years of ownership, Trek will repair or replace them for free.
