Fast, Affordable, Aluminum Stars

Cannondale and Trek, both groundbreaking brands, have committed to making seriously fast, performance racing bikes from aluminum. The best part? The watts per dollar ratio is world class.

The two bike manufacturers have no shortage of elite, other-worldly performance bikes, and those continue to awe us. But their lines of aluminum bikes satisfy us on another level because they help us achieve our mission: to make bike riding accessible to more people. The Cannondale CAAD12 and Trek Emonda ALR models make it easy to make the leap from bike rider to race-ready enthusiast.

The Cannondale CAAD12

Incomparably light, explosively stiff and impossibly smooth, the CAAD12 redefines how aluminum rides. It’s simply the most advanced, best performing alloy race bike ever made.

LEGENDARY LIGHTWEIGHT FRAME CONSTRUCTION

SmartForm 6069 Alloy maintains Cannondale’s trademark rigidity while increasing compliance and delivering frame weights under 1100 grams.

ENGINEERED COMFORT AND CONTROL

Vibration-eliminating, shock-absorbing SPEED SAVE flex zones in the frame improve comfort and performance.

BRAKING POWER

The CAAD12 range is equipped with rim brakes as well as minimalist flat-mount disc mounts that combine ultra-light weight with incredible strength.

MODELS AND PRICING

The wide array of CAAD12s range from the award-winning 105 at $1680, to the Dura-Ace equipped speedster at $5280, plus many in between.

Be assured, the most affordable CAAD12 model with 105, is a bike on which you can feel confident on the line.

Trek Emonda ALR

THE LIGHTEST BIKE ON THE ROAD

The carbon Emonda exploded onto the pavement as the lightest, fastest, nimble bike on the road. It set the standard of performance in its field. Now we test its aluminum brother, and carbon beware, these bikes are not to be ignored.

A FAST, NIMBLE ROAD HOG

An aluminium frame weighing 1050g is unmatched, and you cannot get a lighter aluminium frame for the money. The frame uses Trek’s Invisible Weld Technology which provides for a stronger join between the tubes, and always gives the frame a much cleaner look than the messy welds of some other aluminium frames.

This is a racer that excels in the hills, due to its weight and geometry. For long rides on undulating terrain, the slightly relaxed geometry will gobble the road.

PROVEN COMPONENTS FOR ALL BUDGETS

The ALR series ranges from the Tiagra equipped ALR4 at $1,309.99 to the ALR6, appointed with Ultegra components, at $2,099
