Every August Trek dealers get to preview the newest models at an event called Trek World held at the companies Madison, Wisconsin headquarters. For dealers, its a chance to meet with engineers and bike designers, as well as ride and preview new product. The 2013 mountain line-up saw big changes in both mens and ladies model 29er bicycles at Trek World and we’re proud to finally have the models at the shop to share with you.
The Superfly SL and Superfly 100 SL
Starting with the flagship cross country/race inspired Superfly and Superfly 100 model Trek engineers introduced dealers to the 2013 models, produced as part of the their new Apollo Project. The concept was to push the envelope by creating cross development teams from all departments at Trek to work with the goal of creating unprecedented weight and performance advantages.
From concept to prototype models Trek took advantage of the ability to produce and test everything in-house and the final result was a sub 900 gram hardtail and 1650 Gram full suspension bike. Available in 3 models we currently have the Trek Superfly 100 Elite SL in-stock ($5399), with the pro version and the standard SL coming soon.
Lush 29 and Lush 29 SL
On the womens side the big news was the introduction of the new Lush 29 platform. Taken from their successful Lush 26″ wheel from 2012 the Trek engineers took the ABP suspension and built a womens specific 29 capable of bringing the advantages the larger wheel offers to female riders. The models offer best in category standover height, long with low center of gravity and hand position to create comfort and control for the rider. We’re proud to stock both the Lush 29 and Lush 29 SL at Mellow Johnny’s.
