The second in a series of 5 mini-clinics enjoyed over our morning coffee, today's topics include: Types of Bikes, Parts Identification, Bike Fitting and Adjusting, and Accessories such as tools, clothing, locks and hydration. Choose just the sessions that interest you or attend the entire series to complete the classroom portion of the Traffic Skills 101 course. Each mini-clinic is $5 for ACA members / $10 non-members. 02-13-2010: Scout-A-Route Ride Another Pleasant Valley Bike Ride
Scout out the City of Austin Bike Routes. A new east route with a foray over the river via Pleasant Valley Rd and rolling back through Travis Heights. It's a mix of flat, hills, urban and creekside all within minutes of downtown.
Today's 8:30 am mini-clinic covers The Bicycle - types, parts, fit and accessories. $5 ACA members / $10 non-members. Check the clinic listing for more details.
These rides are meant for exploring so bring your questions and leave your heart rate monitor at home. We roll faster but expect about 12mph ave pace since we are in town. Come by at 9:00 for coffee.

Calling all dirt dawgs! This is a ~2 hour, 10-11 mile ride meeting at Walnut Creek Park. This ride is for beginner/intermediate riders but all are welcome. The park is a single track dirt trail, twisting through the trees with a couple of creek crossings and short lime stone climbs. It is perfect for the beginner as well as the seasoned rider. Bring your mountain bike, helmet, nutritional needs to fuel up, supplies to fix a flat, and plenty of water. 9:00am rollout. Contact Peter at peter@mellowjohnnys.com.

Complimentary Pedal Hard Training Sessions
Half hour sessions starting at 10:00a, 11:00a, 1:00p, 2:00p, 3:00p.
So popular, we are doing it again! Come experience an Indoor cycling class at Kevin Livingston's Pedal Hard Training Center and see what the buzz is all about. Located in the lower level of Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop, the center features state-of-the art Computrainer technology and an experienced, full-time coaching staff.
Regularly a full hour in length, these complementary sessions are a half hour of focused, quality riding using metrics like heart rate, cadence and power to track your progress and keep you honest! Bring your bike and riding gear to the center to give it a try. All levels are welcome, enjoy refreshments and mingle with Kevin and the coaches.

Special edition ladies ride for Valentine’s Day, the one day a year that you get to bring your sweetie along!
Meet at the shop at 2pm to try out a new Trek WSD road bike for the afternoon. The ride leaves at 3pm, we will ride for 20-25 miles at a 14-16mph pace.
When we come back, enjoy FREE champagne courtesy of Sophia's and pair with strawberries and chocolate, mmm!
Finally, get a mini-couples massage to send you and your loved one into Valentine's bliss.

Scout out the City of Austin Bike Routes. Head south of downtown via Bouldin, roll through the Emerald Forest and return via Forest Wood and Robert E Lee. Today's Bike Routes: 31, 82, 84, 25, 11, 64, and 33. These are 2 ways to get from Dittmar north across Lady Bird Lake.

We have moved this ride to Sundays for the fall/winter season. At 3:30pm, it's a 2 hour ride for ladies only. Join experienced riders from Mellow Johnny's for a friendly and moderately paced social ride (14-15mph average). Get more comfortable riding in a group, learn tips & tricks, and meet other like-minded cyclists. Some things to keep in mind before meeting us for this ride: You need a road bike in good working condition; a helmet; cycling clothing; plenty of water; and are able to ride comfortably for 2 hours without stopping.
